Operation Blessing Ukraine Distributes Container with Raisins
On November 28, 2006, Operation Blessing custom-cleared another container of raisings provided by Operation Blessing, USA. The cargo was distributed among charity funds, boarding schools, Christian churches, baby homes, retirement homes, associations of invalids, and large families. 15,093 Ukrainians received a package of sweet sun-dried raisins.
As usual, we have received many letters of gratitude and appreciation.
Tatiana Gaidamachenko, a single mother of five, wrote, “My husband participated in emergency clean-up after the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster and died. I had to take care of my children alone after that. I don’t receive any substantial assistance from the government and I don’t have any privileges. We have been fighting to survive through the years. But thanks the kindness of people like you, our family is regularly taken care of. “Emmanuel” Charity Association gives us Christmas presents, various food items and other things. I want to thank all of the people who donated their finances, time and love in order for our family to feel that we have not been forgotten. We received very tasty raisins and would like to express our sincere gratitude for this present. Thank you a lot for your mercy and support of needy families, thank you for your care and understanding. We live in hard times and it’s very difficult to give our children everything they really need. We are very thankful to you for making a real holiday for our children and giving them hope for a better future.”
We received many letters of gratitude from pensioners. The letter from Alexander Bragarnick illustrates the despair of older people in Ukraine as well as their thankfulness to those willing to help. He writes, “I am very thankful to you for all your charitable deeds and for everything you do for elderly people. I worked at a plant for 50 years. Now I’m a pensioner and for the last seven months I have been in bed because of a serious illness. My wife and I have lived alone since the death of our sons in 2001 and in 2004. We are very grateful to you for the care and kindness you express to lower income people. We received raisins that are very helpful for our bodies as well as tasty. We are very glad that it was a charitable act and we didn’t need to pay for this gift. Let me express my sincere gratitude to all of you for your hard work and doing all the best to relieve the sufferings of old and ill people”.
