Private Sponsor from USA Helps Three Orphanages in Ukraine

In December 2005 we received an e-mail from a private person from USA. The e-mail said: “I would like to come to Ukraine for my Christmas vacation and I would really want to help the orphanages. I want the children at the orphanages to have a real Christmas this year”. We couldn’t leave such a request without an answer and decided to visit three orphanages in Kiev area and give the children real Christmas gifts.

We contacted the orphanages’ staff to identify their most urgent needs and having prepared the goods, we have left for an adventure. The Petrovtsy Orphanage received a vacuum cleaner, an iron, sports equipment and fruit. Each child also received a Christmas bunny. Each of the 18 orphans at Zhukin Orphanage received special Christmas gifts – a sweater and a pair of slippers. These gifts were hand-chosen by our sponsor from Texas and by Emmanuel staff members. Both orphanages received sets of Christian videos with Christmas plays and cartoons. The baby home in Vorzel, which has about 150 children from infants to age 3, also received help. They were presented a refrigerator and a freezer. Now the orphanage staff will be able to keep food products for the children.

Here is what our sponsor says: “Being able to do what I was doing in Kiev is something special and that I could not do here in the USA. “I don't even know where I could do such things in the USA. I like the freedom in Ukraine to visit orphans and give to them as much attention and gifts as I want. “I liked the Petrovsky Orphans’ Home because I liked the enthusiasm there to make a nice and safe place for the children, and I believe that it will happen. “I was particularly happy that it was so easy to help in an effort to give of my time and money to people who needed it!”
